Just right
I love Corelle- we had them in our house when I was growing up and after owning many other types of dishes, I understand why. They are a great product- light, durable, easy to clean. I got this platter to go with my set of everyday dishes. It looks like a nice size for serving. I'll still keep my giant non-Corelle platter for Holidays, but I think this will get a lot of use.

*** Great Product, way over priced ***
We've been fans of Corelle products, been using them for dozens of years, and they live up to our expectations. These are light, easy to clean, durable, and nicely designed, with a relatively wide selection of patterns to choose from (I also use them in the microwave and toaster oven to warm up leftovers). It is my first choice for the day to day usage. We got two of these platters to use with the dinner set, it is just right to serve four to six people.
Two stars off because of the whopping $12.99 price tag which I think is way too much.

Corelle Livingware Platters
I'm extremely satisfied with the product, just as I am with other Corelle dinnerware I have purchased. It can be used in both the oven and the microwave, is dishwasher safe, relatively unbreakable, and looks good.

No. Toss it and buy another one. Bacteria begins to form in the cracks and could cause illness. I wouldn't risk it. If you don't know what to buy her, give her money or a gift card so she can pick out a new one. Crate and Barrel has great prices on serving platters. Working in restaurants I was always told that any dish that has a chip in it should not be used to serve food, same is true of repaired pieces.
