Customer Reviews:
Durable plates, nice, simple look
It's hard to beat Corelle for durability. I purchased this set a month ago to add to my collection of Corelle plates that I've had for 1 year and a half. The plates have been through quite a bit of use, and still have the same quality as when I bought them. No chips, breaks, or scratches.

Great for people with arthritis!
For someone with arthritis or other hand problems, it can be difficult and painful to manage traditional stoneware due to its weight and the fact that it chips or breaks easily if it slips through your fingers. This Corelle set is the perfect alternative, and I can say that it has actually made my life easier on a daily basis. It is the lightest, easiest to store (12 dinner plates only take up 2 ½" of space), easiest to clean (glass-smooth, no ridges), most break-resistant non-plastic dinnerware imaginable. It's microwave-safe, and you can even use the plates like a lid to cover the bowls when cooking in the microwave. In the unlikely event you break a piece, you can easily find replacements. There are many matching serving piece options available. It's extremely inexpensive.

Frost White is elegant in its simplicity, which leaves you free to use just about any linens to get the look you want, and which sets off food beautifully.

Although the cups are not vitrelle, they can be stacked in twos to save space, are not terribly heavy, are a nice size, the flared shape makes them easy to hold, and the look is an improvement over the small, hook-handled vitrelle cups (it's not possible to make a traditional loop-handled cup of vitrelle) of the 1970s. Yes, stoneware cups break or chip, but again, you can replace them easily.

The plates can also be a more elegant and green option for picnics, in place of paper plates that fly off in a breeze and have to be thrown away.

Portmeirion Botanic Garden Dinner Plates, Set of 6 | Best Home ...

This was an tell of a 6 panel set. One trencher arrived dispirited. Amazon refused to either put in place of the coat or slack me a refund for that one pane. They suggested in preference to that they would pay for the unexceptional set to be returned, and afford me a refund for the total set. Since up with 1 cover ruined, the set was however a remarkably nice value, I absolute to deter the residual 5 plates, although I would take preferred a refund for that one splintered slab or a substitute.

What People Talk About Dinner Plates »

Randy F asked on Feb 16, 2008:

What is the best way to warm dinner plates?

christnp answered:
With that many plates, it's a bit challenging. The easiest way might be to load them in the dishwasher and set to the heat cycle. They'll be warm in just a couple of minutes, then you can stack them and do the next batch for a little while, etc. Stacked, they will retain their heat.

Remember, you can cram them in the dishwasher. You won't have to leave the typical space between them 'cuz you're not washing them.
siva992 asked on May 29, 2008:

Do you have to warm dinner plates when serving a 5 course meal?

ANDY answered:
HELLO

SOME PEOPLE HAVE A COLD STARTER (COLD PLATE)
SOME HAVE SOUP WHICH HEATS THE BOWL
ANY FOOD WILL STAY WARMER FOR LONGER IF SERVED ON A HOT PLATE
IF THE SECOND COURSE IS HOT (FISH)
WHILST SERVING THE FIRST COURSE HAVE THE PLATES FOR THE SECOND IN THE SINK FULL OF HOT CLEAN WATER AND LEAVE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE
DRY AND USE AS REQUIRED
IF THE THIRD COURSE IS HOT (MAIN COURSE)
WHILST SERVING THE SECOND COURSE HAVE THE PLATES FOR THE THIRD IN A SINK FULL OF HOT CLEAN WATER AND LEAVE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE
AFTER THAT IT DEPENDS WHAT YOUR FORTH COURSE IS YOU MAY NEED HOT AND OR COLD PLATES
AFTER THAT DEPENDS WHAT YOUR LAST COURSE IS THIS I WOULD GUESS AS A CHEESE BOARD AGAIN COLD PLATES
IN THE OLD DAYS THIS IS WHAT A HOSTESS TROLLEY WAS USED FOR
  • Michael H also said:
You don't have to warm the dinner plates, but some people think it makes the food tatste better. You can put them in a dishwasher to warm them (just put them on the "dry" setting" or you can put them in the oven with what you're cooking for a few minutes.
Lee asked on Jan 13, 2009:

What do you call dark blue dinner plates that have streaks and rainbow colors?

sweetpea answered:
If they are cobalt blue, it could be residual cobalt in the glass, I guess.
