We've actually had this item for awhile now and have become true believers. It keeps the butter cool while not making it hard as a brick the way the refrigerator does. This is an incredible item! We plan on giving one to each of our daughters and their families.

Great little butter keeper!
I love gadgets, especially in my kitchen. My husband is usually not so easily convinced that what I think would be fantastic will actually be anything more than "just another gadget." He has said at least 5 times in the last two weeks we've had this that it is, hands down, his favorite gadget in the kitchen. Our butter stays fresh and it's always spreadable. It could be more simple-looking for our taste, but I've never actually been too concerned with putting a stick of butter onto a plate, so this works just fine for us.

butter has never tasted better!
I grew up with a covered butter dish. Since using less butter as an adult, often when I'd go to get some butter it would be rancid. So I began keeping it in the refrigerator, so it was always hard and cold when I'd want it to be spreadable and room temperature. The Norpro Butter Keeper solved my problem. It's cute on the counter, and keeps my Irish unsalted butter (from Trader Joe's) sweet and fresh. I understand from a friend that, come summer, I'll need to change the water every day or so, but so far I've gone for a couple of weeks and the butter is consistently tasty. Very happy!
