Oxo Good Grips Oyster Knife
Oxo Good Grips Oyster Knife $7.70   $7.99
Product Features:
  • Comfortable, soft handle absorbs pressure
  • Durable stainless-steel blade
  • Safe to use in dishwasher

Product Description:

It takes a pretty tough tool to work its way into an oyster, but that doesn't mean that your hands should bear the brunt of the work. The oversized, soft, non-slip handle on this knife allows you to exert considerable pressure without discomfort.

Customer Reviews:
Worked perfectly
The knife worked very well, the curved tip is great and the grip is an excellent feature as well. I disagree with the reviews saying the steel is weak - I have had no problems with it at all. If you are bending this knife, it is probably "user error"!

I'm an amateur, Love OXO products, hate this knife
If you are a first time shucker, who plans to open through the hinge (as most guides and youtube vids will show you), DO NOT BUY. I'm normally a big fan of Oxo Good Grips products; I own at least 10 other kitchen gadgets they make and LOVE them. This knife, however, bent out of shape after shucking barely a dozen oysters. My suggestion is to buy one from whoever sells you the oysters. They know what they're doing, and the knives are usually very cheap in price, but solid in their construction.

Generally, I'd recommend people stay away from this knife.

Quality Oyster Knife - Gets the Job Done!
This was my first venture at shucking oysters. I chose this one based on the price, reviews and the quality of the other Oxo products that I own. It does an excellent job for me. I have purchased a second one for my grandson to use. It is easy to handle and easy to use and hasn't bent even on the most stubborn oyster.

Oxo Good Grips Oyster Knife on Sale

This is an superlative slash but not for the non-professional. It is designed to outspread an oyster from the side by sliding it along the side striation along the top and rear end shot. By entering from the side you can cut the abductor muscle and flip one's lid the top-cartridge off. It is not a “top-popper” that is designed to undefended the oyster from the hinge. In what way, if you strop this pierce it can be acclimated to for hinge-access by inspiring the blade with a side-to-side wave while applying squeezing, in olden days an cut is made you can then chance your wrist while rocking and pop the hinge. In any receptacle, shucking is an art that you reveal over and above at intervals. I shuck for a living and anyone (a quondam reviewer) who takes 20 minutes to unconcealed 36 oysters is not a experienced but is laughable. The keester hire is if you don’t humanitarian oysters on a absolute bottom, and don’t in reality distinguish how to reveal an oyster, then get a top popper cut with a hoarse pillar. But if you be familiar with what you are doing or require to learn the plaster down and untroubled way to yawning an oyster, this knife is irregular and I use it every day.

What's a good way to give oyster knives as a gift?

Organize with the reception caterer to have a dozen oysters, on ice in a lavish bowl, to be served to the wedding table with your knives fancifully displayed among them.

I do not weep at the world- I am too busy sharpening my oyster knife"?

Jazka answered:
There's a saying, "the world is your oyster".

And inside an oyster shell is a pearl.

This quote could be a reference to that, in the sense that, instead of sitting around, Hurston chooses to seek out the pearl in her oyster.

Can you shuck an oyster with a normal butter knife?

Bob Zaunere answered:
A butter knife isn't sturdy enough to do the pry and twist, a large screw driver works if you get it right down into the dimple where the two shells meet. Please be careful with any shucking tool you use, protect your "holding" hand.
