Customer Reviews:
Where is my single large plate?
I think i got hosed by Amazon. My single large plate was not included in my order. That aside this unit is top notch and grills chicken like a champ. My wife does all the cooking but i do enjoy watching her grill meat for my salads.

Meals are a breeze!
This is awesome! I don't write a lot of reviews, but wanted to for this one. I was dubious that a grill press would be that much different that stovetop cooking/grilling, but it makes such a difference! It is super-easy to make quesadillas, paninis, grilled asaparaus, etc. We always keep tortillas on hand for quick meals. We are about to have quesadillas right now. Yum! Easy, cleans quick, and cooks quick.

Better than a Foreman, but still imperfect.
I purchased one of these a couple years ago, but it recently broke during our move when it fell off of a stand and hit the carpeted floor three feet below. An entire (metal?) leg tore off in the fall and I decided it was time to get a new one.

The new grills have some advantages over the older ones. First, they have reversible plates so you have the grill and griddle on one pair of them, instead of two pair. Second, the drip cups have been replaced with a built-in catcher that slides in and out of the bottom of the device, itself. This is a great improvement, but you must be mindful of the tray and empty it each time you cook. More often, should you find yourself cooking many greasy things at one time.

The negatives from the original grill still remain, though. I'm not sure how they could overcome them, but they are there, nonetheless and I hope their engineers find solutions.

When you are cooking anything that is very greasy (like hamburgers and bratwursts), the size of the food forces the cover to be higher and that increases the gap between the bottom and top plates. A gap that permits enormous quantities of grease to splatter all over your counter, floor, and the grill itself.

After cooking one good burger after purchasing this, my counter top was incredibly greasy. So was the kitchen floor. So was the front of the grill. So was the top of the grill (in fact, the top of the grill was brown and thick with dripping grease). So were the three knobs that control the grill. So was the handle. So was the back of the grill. And when I lifted the top of the grill to take the burger out, the grease dripped off the top plate of the grill and right onto the power cord and the cord sheath that connects the electric parts that tie the two heating elements together from the outside.

If you don't clean the mess up, immediately, you will find yourself in a world of regret a few hours later (or the next time you cook). That grease becomes a tough adversary to eliminate once it has cooled.

This is a large negative, because the point of cooking on one of these is convenience. If you have to do as much (or more) cleaning that you would with a pan on a stove, why bother using it? However, I don't knock too many points off of the item for the fact that none of the other grills seem to have this solved, either. As far as cooking quality and speed -- it's quite good. As good as I'd get in a pan, I'm certain.

What People Talk About Waffle Maker »

Kayla born 8/18/09 <3 asked on Jan 30, 2007:

waffle maker?

IamMARE answered:
Spray the iron with some non-stick spray before making the waffle. Also, you're adding too much batter. Don't go by the light on top of the maker - that really doesn't tell you anything but the heating element is on.

When you're making the waffle, lift up on the lid -if there's resistance, the waffle isn't done, if it comes up clean, you're good.

Waffle Maker?

Jennifer B answered:
There are a few irons that might be what they intend for you to use. A Norwegian krumake iron, a Belgian cookie iron, they vary in pattern and thickness but I think they are pretty much the same. If you don't have one, I would try the regular waffle iron and see how it goes unless it has sticky things (chocolate chips, pieces of fruit) that would stick and ruin your waffle iron (Usually Teflon not iron like the "real" cookie irons. I'm guessing it's high in butter so it should be okay.

How do you make waffles with pancake mix and a waffle maker?

lucylocket7258 answered:
I always buy the buttermilk complete pancake mix. That way the milk and the eggs are already in there. All I have to do is add water. Just pour you some mix in the bowl, add just enough water to make a batter. , add 1 tablespoon oil. Stir it in well. Heat your waffler, and when it is ready, add 2/3 cup to the machine. As with most waffler makers, it has a light that will go off when done. The oil is what makes the waffle crisp on the outside and tender inside. Good luck and let me know how it turns out.
