Bought two sets of these to make treats for the teens and adults working so hard at our local community theater this summer for a production of Footloose, the musical. This is something we just decided to do to let the actors and stage crew know how much we appreciate all their hard work.

We've made several batches of various flavors, and all have been a big hit. These molds are very easy to use. It's great to make twenty at a time with the two molds, since we take 60 at a time to the theater folks.

I do NOT soak the sticks; I use them dry. Placing them deep into the wells of the molds makes it easy to pull the lids off when the pops are frozen. Freeze them overnight so they get good and hard, fill the kitchen sink with enough hot water (really HOT) to reach just the tops of the plastic part of the mold (not to go over the metal), then dunk the molds in the hot water for a count of ten or twelve. Pull the molds out and wiggle one stick gently to see if the pops will pull out yet. If the pops seem pretty stuck in the mold yet, put it back in the hot water for a count of five and try again. The pops come out of the molds very easily for me.

We bag the pops individually in cheapie plastic bags from the grocery store, skipping the twistie ties. Handing out the pops is fast and easy when they are individually wrapped. The only hard part is for the recipient to decied which flavor to choose. We like to bring at least three flavors. Each flavor goes into a separate large Ziploc bag that is labelled.

On treat night, I put all the Ziplocs into a big cooler with bags of frozen water. They keep the pops nice and cold until the actors and crew are ready for their break.

You should hear the cheers when I walk into the theater with the cooler. :)

Wow we love the progressive International freezer pop maker
I have had this popsickle maker for 1 week. The first round was fresh strawberry (blended), yogurt with a dash of sweetner, I droped in rasberrys, and finally blueberrys blended with juice. they were fabulous. This week I made pina colada with fresh pineapple, and coconut milk, sweetened with agave, yogurt with passion fruit, and mango. The top is a little difficult to get off becauise I just put the sticks in when I make them. The pops come out of the mold just fine. I love taking them out and putting them in a ziolock bag. Then I am off to planning the next round. MMMM

Great Popsicles
The popsicle maker is made very well, the only part I had a hard time with was getting the sticks through the opening. I think they should be just a little bigger. The frozen pops came out very easily and cleaning is a breeze. All in all, I would recommend the product. It would be a very accomodating if there were a few recipes included with the maker. It is always nice to have extra ideas.

What People Talk About Stock Pots »

N asked on Jun 24, 2007:

is it normal for stock pots to steam?

Paul Ding answered:
No.

It only happens when there is hot liquid in the stock pots.

What is the difference between a soup pot and a stock pot?

Diane B. answered:
You know, there may not be a simple answer to that question... I'd ask your mom to be specific (or try to get her to talk about using one in a general way and you should see which type she wants).

The way I've heard the terms anyway, a "stock pot" is a tall, large, cylindrical metal pot used for creating "stocks" from meats, poultry, fish, and/or veggies (the stock is then often used to make soups or sauces, etc.).
http://www.google.com/images?q=stock+pot

A "soup pot" could be a soup "tureen" though which is a large ceramic bowl (any shape) that's used at the table for serving a soup (family style, rather than being served in individual bowls).
http://www.google.com/images?q=soup+ture en

A "soup pot" could also simply be a good-sized pot that's large enough to make the final soup in (e.g., bean soup, clam chowder, etc.)... I use an enameled "Dutch oven" for making my actual soups (not to make stocks unless a small amount), which works very well --and also great for stews and braises. My Dutch oven is a 5 qt, I think, and makes enough soup for about 7 good sized servings (not to the brim). Martha Stewart has some on sale now, and probably others too:

Various people could use the terms interchangeably though or mean different things by them, so I'd definitely check it out.

If she does want a stock pot btw, you can easily get away with a fairly small one (which will still be quite large--I used a turkey carcass last time with plenty of room) unless she likes to make really large quantities of stock, etc.

I want to turn a big stock pot into a planter?

taylor5198 answered:
Depending on the quality of the pot, you may not want to damage it by drilling holes in it. An alternative would be to purchase a clay pot just slightly smaller in diameter than the steel pot and plant in that then set the clay pot inside the steel pot. The pot can double as a "drip tray" under the clay pot which you will have to have either way. As for plants to put in it, go houseplant shopping to see what you like. There is such a wide variety, you can even choose by colors. With western light, you have an amazing number to choose from.
