I actually own a teacup chihuahua... There is nothing wrong with teacup animals.. My honey is happy and healthy but its all about seeing the parents and the environment.. I used to work at a vets office and while teacup breed animals are a very high maintenance kind, they do make happy, healthy, and loyal pets.... Home breeders are good but you SHOULD check out the living situation and mannerisms of the other dogs on the premises... Good luck and enjoy your teacup!!!

Without looking at the answers am sure you got an ear ful about the word eacup but for a better word I have had yorkies for years and almost alway kep what I call the rut(smallest ) of the litters and I have had what people call teacup Yokies and have never had ANY health issues .......When they are youg keep them warm do not worry about baths so much at first and the shots make sure the vet does them when you know the dog is old enough

They are more prone to hydrocephalus, hypoglycemia, liver shunt, heart murmurs, epilepsy, thyroid problems, breathing problems, orthopedic problems... etc

They are just more prone to problems than other poorly bred dogs because of the extreme breeding practices used!

Parents are typically untested.. tight inbreeding may be used.. all in the name of selecting the smallest dogs possible.

Breeding practices like poor nutrition during pregnancy and growth, and early cecarians lead to health issues.

Some have issues because of their small size.. some of them their organs keep growing and their bodies just cant accomodate for it. Tough one.....found a website that sells them but not sure if they ship to the US....(the Jan mini is towards the bottom of the page)let me keep looking...
