Pro's: Cost, sturdy, seems to shut on and off well. It's a great size for a single user.
Con's: Probably won't last more than 2 or 3 years. Not big enough capacity for a family. Does not have a quick remove base.

to make this review short & concise - this is a great product. heats up water instantaneously (faster than a stove-top kettle). my wife uses it more than 5 times a day to heat up water for our baby, to make coffee, and other uses.

Grease ? thats what you want, I keep mine oiled all the time with a good cooking oils or even mineral oil. It will help resist burning, but also seal and sanitize it. And by the way its not cheap a good butcher block costs more than your granite.

It shouldn't damage it, but you might have a hard time reaching in there to clean it out really well afterwards:) ... I'd use Soft Scrub to make sure it's really clean, with a bottle brush. I've made Hot Spiced Cider in a big coffee urn, putting the whole spices into the grounds container, and it works perfectly:)
