Customer Reviews:
As always, outstanding set from Corelle
I purchased the Corelle 4 Dots pattern less than 2 years ago, but had only got a single order for a place setting for four. Of course, now that I wanted to get more, I found it was discontinued, and I could not find anything, anywhere on the internet, for sale anymore other than some cups. So I looked at what's out there, picked these, and will give away my other set.

These are pretty much exactly what I had prior, just the different pattern. But this is my third set of Corelle now, and I've had nothing ever chip or break on me in my house, even with a 6 year old being rough putting them in my granite sink...

I did have one bowl broken in transport, but that's due to a lack of packing protection on the small bowls. Both sets of plates were protected.

There's a nice, solid feel to these, no hesitancy in stacking them or pulling something out from the middle of a stack.

As with any Corelle pattern, the colors have a slightly faded look, I assume it's part of the process that helps protect them during normal use. Since I've not had anything fade on any of the plates I had previously, it apparently works.

Solid, attractive, generously sized, and almost 50% off the normal price when I ordered them, can't go wrong with that combination.

Modern and durable...winning combination!
My husband and I registered for two sets of these for wedding gifts. We did a lot of research on dinnerware and what is durable and lasts through the years. Also doing an online registry, we wanted to make sure all the dinnerware arrived in one piece. Lots of people recommended Corelle. I was a bit of a skeptic that plates could be glass, look nice, AND be nearly indestructible.

I agree they were not necessarily packed very well for shipping when we received them, but we received them without any chips/cracks/breaks, so we must have been lucky. We somehow ended up with four sets instead of the two we had wanted, but we liked them so much, we kept a third set in case of big dinner parties or having back ups in the very unlikely event that we break a dish.

The square shape and the simple black lines design definitely give the set a more "modern" look. The dinner plates are really large. I usually find salad plates to be less useful because they tend to be small, but even the salad plates are large enough to be used for several things. The bowls are a good size and depth for salads, cereal, soup, etc.

The thin and square design of the plates makes for very efficient storing space! But don't be fooled...thin does not = weak. We haven't had these plates very long, but I haven't ever felt like I had to be careful in handling them, either. I have a feeling they will last for many years to come. I hear the biggest problem with Corelle is that you get sick of the pattern before you ever actually "need" to replace your set!

HellzoneX asked on Mar 05, 2010:

Were glass mugs used in bars during the early 1800's?

rohak1212 answered:
The mugs could have been glass, or pottery, or metal. It would have depended on how much money they had to buy dishware with, and what kind of artisans they had locally.

Why do coloured drinks stain mugs but not glass ?

n.hyatt answered:
Ceramic is a porus material meaning it has tiny holes all over its surface that hold onto liquid, when the liquid drys you have your stain. Glass is not porus thus no stain.

Does Starbucks and other coffee places serve Dining In orders in glass or ceramic mugs/glasses?

jay1986 answered:
yes, starbucks as well as many other coffee shops serve drinks in ceramic cups. make sure you specify that you want it "for here" and maybe even elaborate further that you want it in an actual cup, just so they don't forget.
