Customer Reviews:
Great tamper
Solid, good looking, well constructed, inexpensive. I bought this to use with my Breville 800ESXL which uses a smaller than normal portafilter. It works great, and will still be usable when I upgrade to a bigger machine.

terry's tamper
works well except it is a little too big to get the proper result for my particular machine......i need a smaller diameter head to get better results

AR asked on Jul 22, 2009:

What is the reliability of super automatic espresso machines?

Bob Zaunere answered:
A Super Automatic espresso machine is a reliable machine but they do have a few more components than Semi-Automatic or Traditional espresso makers. Don'tbe frightened by them, they are there to make the process less interactive. Once you set the machine's programmable features (water volume, size of shot, etc.) you have touch of the button capabilities.

The Saeco Odea line is the one I would go from the ones you named above. Saeco is the world leader in espresso machines and we have never seen a reliability issue for their machines.

If you do need any help you can always contact us - we've been servicing & repairing Super Automatic espresso machines in Southern California for the last 9 years. Just give us a shout at Swisssystems.com - ask for Roland or Jose, they are real friendly experts.

In general, the super automatic machines seem to break a bit more often than the semi-automatic machines - simply because there is more things that could possible go wrong. It is difficult to tell how reliable these machines are - I would recommend that you read a lot of user reviews before you decide which model to get.

Jura / Capresso are known to have really poor customer service, so I personally would stay away from these machines. Magnifica is supposed to be quite good but rather expensive. My personal choice would be Saeco Odea - I think that's quite a good value for money. I will give you a link for a Saeco Odea review:

Hope you will find it useful.

Who in Austin/San Antonio sells gaggia or rancillio espresso machines?

PAQuestions answered:
Would you consider ordering online? You can get them at the links below (among others). Or see if a specialty shop in your area can get one? Like L'Aglio in Katy TX? Or Williams Sonoma in Austin?
