Aerobie 80R08 AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker
Product Features:
  • Includes a years' worth of micro-filters; BPA free
  • Unique coffee/espresso maker uses total immersion and gentle pressure to produce coffee with extraordinarily rich flavor
  • Makes American style coffee or an espresso-style shot perfect for use in lattes or cappuccinos

Product Description:

The AeroPress is an entirely new way to make coffee, American style or Espresso style for use in lattes, cappucinos and other espresso based drinks. AeroPress brews simply delicious coffee, 1-4 cups per pressing. Ideal water temperature and faster brewing yields rich flavor with lower acidity and without bitterness. Other brewing processes use near boiling water and long exposure to coffee grounds. Quickly brew a variety of coffee drinks including an Americano or an espresso-style shot for use in lattes or cappuccinos. Its total-immersion system permits extraction at a moderate temperature and a short brew time. Water and grounds are mixed together for 10 seconds, then gentle air pressure pushes the mix through a micro-filter in just 20 seconds, which avoids the bitterness of long processes such as drip brewing. The air pressure also gently squeezes the last goodness from the grounds, further enriching the flavor. The total brewing time of only 30 seconds results in an exceptionally smooth brew. The AeroPress is BPA free.

Customer Reviews:
Great Coffee machine!
This machine is great to use, excellent coffee on the first cup and many cups after. I purchased two each, one for work and one for home.

You really don't need to use the plunger but its useful to blow the air through the coffee filter to the last coffee drop out of the machine after it drips through by gravity( for Drip Coffee).
Using the plunger creates higher atmospheric pressure (7 to 11 atmos) using hot water at 194 to 203 Deg F for an Expresso what I have read on sweetmarias dot com website.

The filters are sort of expensive AeroPress Micro-Filters, Package of 350 with the shipping,
Its best to "wash em out and flip em over".
Another way is any cheap cone coffee filters at WalMart and cut out 2 each at a time (2 1/2" diameter) with this template C-Thru Jumbo-Circles Template and a exacto knife.

Why bend over like a fool and pay a high price for 350 coffee filters that cost 50% of the price of the machine.

Must have item!!!
I've been recently exposed to this device and I wish I knew about it sooner.

I have all sorts of java juice extraction devices (to include drip, percolator, French Press, and my Saeco Super-automatic) and this $20 dollar device clobbers them when it comes to single/double servings. With the correct type of coffee and water temp, you can get the creme just like wiki image on their wiki page. This coffee is so simple and easy, I'm seriously considering selling my $600 Saeco--yes, seriously.

I currently have two, one for home, one for work and will soon have a 3rd for my suitcase.

I can't put into works how much I love this thing. If I could by stock in Aerobie I would be a 10% owner and start selling the suckers myself.

For customers looking to buy, it comes w/ 300 some filters already so you can save the extra $10 and get the press without the extra filters. I also rinse and reuse my micro-filters for the day and it tastes just the same. Go ahead... call me cheap

Works great, but I received a used Aeropress
I'm quite happy with this purchase for $22. I received my Aeropress today. I've been using those plastic Bodums from Starbucks (the ones that say "Give Up Bad Coffee For Good") for a while, and I never felt like investing in a glass one since I heard they break easily. I'm completely satisfied with the coffee produced by the Aeropress and thus with the product itself, but I'm not happy about receiving what was obviously a returned Aeropress. It was kind of dirty and the inside still smelled faintly of grounds. I wouldn't have any problem with this if the listing on Amazon said that they were refurbished. It's not really a big deal, but I'm still going to have to give four stars.

singletrack65 answered:
There are a lot of steps specific to each method & there are many methods.

The links give in-depth step-by-step instructions for some of the ways I use to brew my coffee/espresso. Each gives a different taste/texture & many people have a favorite, but I love changing it up.

і ♥ нім asked on Dec 24, 2008:

How many different one cup coffee makers are there?

Wickman answered:
There are three main single serve technologies out there:
1. Coffee Pods - The coffee pod is an open standard. Anyone can make them and anyone can make a pod brewer. Some of the most popular are the Senseo made by Phillips. Prices start around $60 at Target. You will find the most varieties of coffee available in pod form.
2. K-Cups - The K-Kup is used in a Keurig coffee maker like the B60 you found. The K-Cup is patented by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters(they bought Keurig). Keurig controls the entire market.
3. T-Discs - Kraft owns the Tassimo franchise and Bosch is the manufacturer of the new Tassimo system (Braun used to make them). They are priced at $99 or $129 and can make not just coffee but also lattes and espresso drinks.

The most affordable units up front and in the long run (because the coffee is cheaper) are the Pod machines. For example, The Coffee Artisan is selling the Melitta MES5B Pod Brewer and a case of 108 coffee pods for $79.99 with free UPS Ground shipping. Average cost per 8 oz. cup is about 40 cents.
Victor J asked on Oct 31, 2009:

What plastic are appliances such as coffee makers made of?

be answered:
Appliances can be made from different thermoplastics. The markings that you are looking for will be on the inside surfaces of the product, so they can't be seen from the outside. You will have to open it to be able to tell exactly what it is.
Most will be made from an ABS/PC blend of plastic that is fire retardant. This is a UL requirement, for some electronic products so that they will not start on fire.
Combining plastic with metal is easy to do in a plastic injection mold. However outside of the molding process it is more difficult to do and the adhesion will not be as good.
Bolts or dowels or a weld can be used to attach metal plates together. If they are plastic plates screws bolts or a sonic weld can be used. You could also have snap features designed into the parts so that the plastic will snap together.
The structural stability of the structure depends on how wide it is as well as how tall. Use trusses to make you structure stronger if it needs to support a weight.
Talk to a plastic injection mold designer to get more specific answers on a project. The can take into account the specific materials you are using and are usually pretty good engineers.
