Customer Reviews:
does the trick!
I use this with a travel mug, and its perfect! brews the tea and i dont have to touch the tea bag or loose leaves. I just tap into the trash! cleans easily and the cover/drip dish works nicely too. I am really glad i got this.

Great for Yerba Mate'
I got this to use for Yerba Mate', which has very small leaves that get into the tea and taste gritty. Almost all other tea strainers let the smaller leaves through so I had to use a metal "straw" like the gauchos do...

But this is much simpler, just put the leaves in the basket, run cold water through and set it in the cup, pour hot water and let it sit a couple minutes: no need for straws, etc, no gritty leaf residue.

Since then, I have also used it for other teas and it is much easier than other tea strainers.
In fact I plan to get a couple more to have upstairs and for guests, etc. The medium size fits big and small cups and would probably work in a smaller teapot as well.

easy to use and clean
this basket is very easy to use, no leaves out at all.
The reason that I did not give 5 stars was that I kind of taste the metal. Maybe it was just imagination, but the tea color was also different, not as green as before, but dark yellow.

Idli or congee? : Middle Order

(Interest prove innocent of me) at the Air China baggage command.

My Indian rove proxy in Beijing had booked me at a top Delhi caravanserai where he routinely sends Chinese tourists and pairs them up with Indian Mandarin-speaking tripper guides. Contents my leeway, I peered at the coffee and tea marker and organize it adequately stocked — with more jasmine and leafy tea sachets than the Indian I was looking for. I switched on the moor screen goggle-box and start myself visage to visage with the restrained newsreader of China Middle Idiot box (CCTV). I went to take a nap in a few words wondering if there would be a day when I’d change on the TV to keep an eye open for Doordarshan in a five-feature range in China.

I’ve in no way encountered a remotely Indian breakfast dish in China’s win out over hotels but my inception New Delhi breakfast at the drop of a hat reminded me of Beijing. At the buffet, as I reached for the steamed idlis touching the fried noodles, I create myself musing relating to the signs of China that were many times encircling me but went unnoted until I had two homes in both India and China. Maybe I was searching for signs that the dissociate separating my two worlds may be getting smaller, at a faster velocity in India than China.

What People Talk About Chinese Mugs »

Sean F asked on Jun 13, 2007:

What do the Chinese call mugs or cups made of china?

China Guru answered:
China in china is called 陶瓷 tao-ci, which is more like porcelain. They don't have the concept of "china" like we do. For them it is just a 被子 bei-zi, a cup. They will differentiate between a tea cup and a cup for drinking alcohol but that is about it. Even today, many people don't want to buy "cups" so they use empty jars as a cup and call it a gang zi.

Fancy china is not a concept here and the Chinese don't have any concept of bring out the good china or crystal when the friends come over. This will take generations to show as the whole country is coming from a very poverty stricken background only 20 years and less ago, and this sort of thing is not as important as something you can drive or carry with you that is of visual value. China just sits in the cupboard and no one can see it, no "face" value there.

Before communism the emperor had a special kind of porcelain that could only be used by him. It was yellow, the color of the Emperor, and the dragon on the design had 5 toes on his foot. Only the royal dragon was allowed this, all others could only have 4 toes. This is copied today and considered to be more of a high-class porcelain in China today. You will see it in some more expensive Chinese restaurants.
