Customer Reviews:
Love this slicer.
Our original marble slicer finally kicked the bucket after 10+ years of use. I ordered this one, and was pleasantly surprised at how nice it is. Also, having a nice tight wire sure does help.

Through Thick and Thin
I love thin slices of cheese, so thin it practically melts in your mouth. This is especially challenging using a hand-held slicer since the force used to press down and against the cheese to attempt to keep the thickness constant frequently causes the slice to skip, and it's a pain in the butt! If you can even find one that actually adjusts thinner than a monstrous 1/4 inch anymore.

With this slicer it was easy to maneuver the cheese and gauge the thickness of the slices, and I had no trouble keeping the wire lined up with the groove. Thick or thin, it is effortless. It's beautiful and I am overjoyed with both it's style and performance.

I also found it easy to clean, even in the groove.

Altogether a great deal for the price.

Looks great!
This is a beautiful cheese slicer. However it does have some draw backs. Cheese sticks to the marble top, so sliding it around is not possible. With that its hard to get consistent pieces of cheese. The wire cuts through easily, but mine seems to drift a little and does not want to end up in the groove. Maybe my handle is bent. Also that grove is a pain to clean! You need a brush to get in there. One month after Ive owned it, one of the legs broke off. Its a simple fix.... Looks like the manufacture used super glue to put them on. Figured they would have used something stronger. Honestly I wouldn't buy this again!

I went with Tennessee totally because the SEC seems to be the bull session du jour for the NCAA straighten out now. Let’s see if Eric Berry was in South Seashore. Of undoubtedly, there are four other ACC teams I can see getting hit.

But, I’d entirely Attraction it if Texas got reamed. That’s how I’m routing for although I about it’ll be another SEC party.

(DAMN, I should be subjected to added VT as a pick)…

I have granite counter tops and would like to know if it's safe to leave my 2 marble cutting boards on top?

Bob Zaunere answered:
No, shouldn't be a problem. But if you are concerned about damaging the surface of the granite, you can put those little adhesive felt discs on the bottom of the marble cutting boards to be super sure that nothing harms the granite.

By the way, try not to actually cut on your marble cutting boards; it will dull your knives very quickly. I like the idea of using them to display your antique butter dish and so forth. Marble cutting boards are also a great way to serve cheese at a wine and cheese party.

Do you use your marble boards for rolling out pastry dough? That's the classic way to keep pastry dough cool as you work with it.

Is there an easy way to clean marble/granite cutting boards with pepper and onion odors or satins?

Cap'n One-Aye answered:
If the cutting board absorbed odors and stains, it is not marble or granite. It is a faux composite and should be wiped clean with a mild bleach solution.
Brittany asked on Jun 26, 2009:

Should i get my boyfriend a marble chess board without storage or a wood board with storage for his birthday?

captainstoryteller answered:
The day will eventually arrive where the chess board will be accidentally dropped on the floor. Which do you think will survive that fall unscathed? The wood, of course.

Wooden boards are, and have been for many generations, the board-of-choice for real players. It is one of the ear-marks of a beginner or non-chess player, to use marble, onyx, glass, etc, rather than wood.

Also, consider should you ever want to tote the board and set to a tournament, a friend or relatives house, the marble board would be heavy and still very fragile.

The wooden set wins hands-down!

P.S. Bringing a marble or onyx board to a tournament is certain to elicit many behind-the-hands snickering and derisive chuckling.
