Customer Reviews:
Buy it at the drug store
This is the same food grade mineral oil they sell at any drug store to use as a laxative or personal lubricant (no explanation needed on those two lol). I can get almost half a gallon of the stuff at CVS for the same price. It's odorless, colorless, tasteless and crystal clear (no dyes) just like this stuff. I use plain old food grade mineral oil for my cutting bored, on my cutting shears for the garden, diamond honing stone ect ect... I use this stuff on any thing you would not want to use a petroleum based oil or to use it when it would come in contact with food (I.E. food grade mineral oil is ~food safe~).

And no... you have to actually consume in the amounts descried on the bottle to get the laxative effect (like a table spoon or two worth, that`s not an accidental amount and all it will do is "loosen" you up not poison you).

perhaps for that purpose..
This is a product that looks good but is not very good for my intention about removing the dark stain on my wooden utensils or making them right as the natural color like before, but i think is kind a good mineral oil, etc.

Good product
I use this once in a while on my cutting board. I try to wipe my cutting board and not leave water on it. Then once in a while I smooth out this oil on it with a paper towel. I probably could use it a little more often. But the product is very good. Highly recommend.

What People Talk About Carving Boards »

William H asked on Dec 31, 2006:

What are the advantages of bamboo carving boards esp in re to juices from meats & poultry?

Barry B answered:
I have found no evidence of bamboo having any effect on meat or poultry juices. Any advantages mentioned focus on:
1. Bamboo is a quickly renewable resource.
2. Bamboo does not absorb much liquid, so it doesn't swell and shrink much at all.
3. Bamboo is 16% harder than maple, so it makes a good, durable carving board that doesn't show its age as quickly.

Here's a case I found against plastic cutting boards:
"You should use a hard wood cutting board for the sake of your knives and for sanitary reasons. The myth is that wooden boards are so porous that harmful organisms such as salmonella, e-coli and listeria soak in, are hard to remove, and easily contaminate other foods placed upon it later.

The myth has been compounded with the belief that plastic, because it is not porous, can be more easily and safely cleaned. These beliefs were so widely held by everyone including health officials that no one actually bothered to test them until 1993. Microbiologists at the University of Wisconsin's Food Research Institute contaminated wooden cutting boards and plastic ones with all bacteria that cause food poisoning.... Guess what?

Without washing, without touching it, the bacteria on the wooden board died off in three minutes. On the plastic board? The bacteria remained and actually multiplied overnight. It seems wood has a natural bacteria-killing property, plastic and glass don't."

Less porous than wood, but harder on your knife edges. I'd suggest a nylon/plastic one. They're easy to clean and disinfect.
Movie Watcher asked on Mar 22, 2010:

What are cruising long boards for and what are carving long boards for.?

Tasha answered:
cruising is for...well....cruising and carving is more for turning sharply and going downhill and all pro and crap
  • I MUST KNOW also said:
i thought they were the same thing but i guess im wrong,,,, maybe carving boards are the boards that you see that are small and are used for carving andd cruising are long boards
Jeremy H asked on May 19, 2010:

When I see long boards (skateboards) carving they always have big decks is that necessary?

Just wondering cos I'll buy a long board if I must but if a board say the size of a cruiser (29"-34") will do the job then yeah.
