Panasonic SD-YD250 Automatic Bread Bakery with 4 Baking Modes

Customer Reviews:
Great bread maker
This bread maker lives up to the high reviews.
We have baked over 6 loaves, and have used the dough cycle a few times. We almost bought the Z brand but for the cost it was not justified. This is a nice Bread Machine and the paddle does not stay in the bread after cooking .

great bread maker for the price
I have been making all of my bread for about 7 years with a Breadman Pro bread maker that finally broke after making approximately 700 loaves of bread. I decided to buy this Panasonic bread maker after some research. I have made about 10 loaves of bread so far, and it works very well. My main purpose for making bread is for toast and sandwiches. The regular loaf setting made very tall loaves of bread, but this bread maker has a "sandwich" setting that makes smaller loaves that are perfect for me. I have to say that it is very easy to use and makes very good bread. I would recommend it to a friend.

Better than ever!
I bought this machine to replace a 15-year old Panasonic. Panasonic has a decades-long history of building rugged, reliable mechanical products (in the old days, VCRs and tape machines, more recently, CD and DVD players, bathroom fans, microwave ovens.) Anyone and everyone builds inexpensive consumer products, but Panasonic makes them actually work reliably. Whenever I'm looking for a consumer product that has moving parts, I always go to them.

So back to this machine....I use it primarily as a dough maker for pizza. The old machine took 2 1/2 hours. This one does pizza dough in 45 minutes. I use the same recipe, and not only do I get dough faster, but the dough is much better to work with, and crips up very nicely. Can't imagine that the machine would make that much difference, but it does.

Have made a few loaves of bread, and they are perfect every time.

Looking forward to using this for the next 15 years.

Food makers hungry to change for WIC

The WIC program, which offers nutrition education and food vouchers to low-income families, will soon get a healthy overhaul. But to cash in, food manufacturers have had to make some adjustments. Rachel Dornhelm reports.

Kai Ryssdal: The federal government has been subsidizing food for low-income mothers and their children for more than 30 years. The choices in the WIC program -- that stands for Women, Infants and Children -- have been pretty limited traditionally. Mostly dairy products and baby formula. That is going to change on Thursday though.

Mothers will be able to use their vouchers for fresh produce and other healthier things like soy milk and brown rice too. All told WIC accounts for about $4.5 billion in retail food sales every year. And that has food makers hungry enough to make some big changes as Rachel Dornhelm reports.
